Finished the 24 The Hard Way
Well I went down to Oklahoma City planning on only doing 30 to 40 miles because the MotherRoad III is less than 3 weeks away. Like usual, the competitive spirit took over and I ran just a little under 41 miles in the 6 hour race. I have been weight training on the quads a lot this year and it paid off. My last 3 mile splits were around 7 minutes each and I really felt very good. In the 1980's it took me three attempts to finish a marathon but finally did it and won the Tulsa Marathon in the fall of 1989 in a time of 2:47:02. I've tried 2 100 milers only to DNF at both......this time I feel really prepared..........and it's my third attempt!
